About this scheme
SBM-Gramin Phase II runs from 2020-21 to 2025-26 with an outlay of about Rs 1.40 lakh crore, focused on sustaining Open Defecation Free status and achieving ODF Plus villages with comprehensive solid and liquid waste management. It funds Individual Household Latrines for newly eligible households, Community Sanitary Complexes, biodegradable waste management including compost pits and biogas, plastic waste management units, greywater management through soak pits and waste stabilisation ponds, and faecal sludge management. Funding comes from the Centre and states along with 15th Finance Commission tied grants and MGNREGA convergence.

Who can apply
- Rural households without access to a toilet
- Newly eligible households including those left out of earlier surveys
- Priority to SC, ST, small and marginal farmers, landless labourers and households with a disabled member
- Gram Panchayats for community assets and waste management infrastructure
Documents required
- Aadhaar card
- Bank account details with IFSC
- Proof of residence in the Gram Panchayat
- Photograph of the constructed toilet
- Ration card where applicable
How to apply
- 1Apply at the Gram Panchayat or on the SBM-G portal or mobile app
- 2Verification of eligibility by the Panchayat Secretary
- 3Construct the toilet as per the approved design
- 4Geo-tagged photograph uploaded for verification
- 5Incentive credited directly to the bank account through DBT
