Sub-Mission on Agroforestry (Har Medh Par Ped)
Support for planting trees on farm bunds and field boundaries to diversify income and improve climate resilience.

About this scheme
The Sub-Mission on Agroforestry, launched in 2016-17 following the National Agroforestry Policy 2014, encourages farmers to integrate trees with crops and livestock on their own land. It supports nursery development, quality planting material, plantation on farm bunds and boundaries, demonstration plots and capacity building. Complementary reforms have simplified felling and transit rules for trees grown on private land in many states, and a Model Tree Felling and Transit Rules framework plus a national timber certification scheme have been introduced to give farmers a reliable market. It is now implemented as a component of Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana.
