Development and conservation of indigenous bovine breeds through breeding infrastructure and genetic improvement.

About this scheme

Launched in December 2014 under the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Rashtriya Gokul Mission works on genetic upgradation of the bovine population and enhancement of milk production and productivity. It funds Gokul Grams (Integrated Indigenous Cattle Centres), semen stations, artificial insemination networks, IVF and sex-sorted semen technology, breed multiplication farms and a nationwide AI programme. It also runs the Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme delivering free door-step AI services.

How to apply

1Contact the district animal husbandry office or the State Livestock Development Board
2For AI services, request a MAITRI or the local veterinary centre
3For a breed multiplication farm, submit a DPR to the implementing agency
4Project appraisal and sanction by the state and the Ministry
5Subsidy released in instalments linked to project milestones
