Direct income support of Rs 6,000 per year to landholding farmer families, paid in three instalments.

About this scheme

PM-KISAN is a Central Sector Scheme launched on 24 February 2019, funded 100% by the Government of India. It supplements the financial needs of all landholding farmer families for procuring inputs and meeting domestic needs. Money is credited via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts. e-KYC and Aadhaar-NPCI bank seeding are mandatory to receive instalments. As of the 23rd instalment (June 2026), cumulative transfers have crossed Rs 3.7 lakh crore. Implemented by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare with State/UT land records.

Who can apply

All landholding farmer families (husband, wife and minor children) owning cultivable land
Name must appear in State/UT land records
Aadhaar mandatory; e-KYC must be completed
Excluded: institutional landholders, income-tax payers, serving or retired government employees, professionals, and pensioners drawing above Rs 10,000 per month

How to apply

1Register at pmkisan.gov.in under 'New Farmer Registration' or visit a Common Service Centre (CSC)
2Enter Aadhaar, land record details and bank account information
3Complete e-KYC by OTP, biometric or face authentication
4Verification by the village Patwari, Revenue Officer or nodal officer
5Track payment under 'Know Your Status' on the portal
