About this scheme
Under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janurvarak Pariyojana, launched in 2022, all subsidised fertiliser in India is sold under a single 'Bharat' brand such as Bharat Urea and Bharat DAP, with two-thirds of the bag carrying the Bharat and PMBJP identity. Urea is sold at a statutorily fixed MRP, while phosphatic and potassic fertilisers are covered by the Nutrient Based Subsidy scheme with rates fixed each season by the Cabinet. Subsidy is released to manufacturers only after the actual sale to a farmer is recorded on a Point of Sale device under Direct Benefit Transfer, and every retail sale requires the farmer's Aadhaar or Kisan Credit Card. Farmers also access soil testing and other services at Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samridhi Kendras, which are upgraded retail outlets.

How to apply
- 1Visit an authorised fertiliser retailer or a Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samridhi Kendra
- 2Provide Aadhaar or Kisan Credit Card for biometric or OTP authentication at the POS device
- 3Purchase the required quantity within the permitted limit
- 4Collect the POS-generated receipt
- 5Subsidy is settled directly between the government and the manufacturer
