National Mission on Edible Oils - Oilseeds (NMEO-Oilseeds)

Mission to raise domestic oilseed production with quality seed, cluster demonstrations and value chain support.

About this scheme

Approved by the Union Cabinet in October 2024 with an outlay of Rs 10,103 crore for 2024-25 to 2030-31, NMEO-Oilseeds aims to raise primary oilseed production to 69.7 million tonnes and domestic edible oil availability to about 25.45 million tonnes by 2030-31, meeting roughly 72% of demand. It focuses on high-yielding, high-oil-content seed varieties, a SATHI seed portal for traceable quality seed, 600 Value Chain Clusters covering over 10 lakh hectares, 65 new seed hubs and 50 seed storage units, and rice and potato fallow area expansion. A parallel mission, NMEO-Oil Palm, covers oil palm area expansion.

Farmers growing mustard, groundnut, soybean, sunflower, sesamum and other notified oilseeds
Farmers in identified value chain cluster areas
FPOs, cooperatives and public and private seed producing entities
Priority for rice and potato fallow areas and intercropping systems

How to apply

1Approach the district agriculture office or the state oilseed mission cell
2Register on the SATHI seed portal or the state DBT portal for seed
3Enrol in a value chain cluster if operating in your area
4Receive seed, inputs or demonstration support
5Subsidy credited to the bank account through DBT
