Virus-free, high-quality planting material for horticulture crops through a national network of Clean Plant Centres.

About this scheme

Approved by the Union Cabinet in August 2024 with an outlay of Rs 1,765.67 crore under MIDH, the Clean Plant Programme addresses the shortage of disease-free planting material in Indian horticulture. It establishes nine Clean Plant Centres across the country for crops such as grapes, citrus, apple, mango, banana, pomegranate and temperate fruits. Each centre handles diagnostic testing, therapeutics, mother plant maintenance and multiplication. The programme also creates a certification framework and supports large-scale nursery infrastructure so farmers receive traceable, virus-free planting material.

How to apply

1Farmers buy certified material from an accredited nursery listed by the state
2Nurseries apply to the Clean Plant Centre for accreditation and mother stock
3Material is tested and certified through the diagnostic protocol
4Certified planting material is supplied with traceability tags
5Subsidy on planting material claimed through MIDH where applicable
