Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) has signed an MoU with the ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (ICAR-NAARM), Hyderabad towards strengthening academic and research collaboration in fisheries, aquaculture and the Blue Economy.

The MoU provides a framework for collaborative research, exchange of students and faculty, capacity building, joint teaching and extension initiatives, modelling studies, and cooperation in emerging areas of fisheries and ocean sciences. It will also facilitate joint academic programmes, institutional partnerships, and collaborative contributions to policy development.

The immense possibilities offered by Al, when combined with ground-truthed biological, geospatial and techno-economic data, can transform the way KUFOS plan and implement aquaculture and mariculture programmes. Realising this potential calls for interdisciplinary research, institutional synergy and stronger partnerships among fisheries science, technology and academia.

The MoU was exchanged during the inauguration of the Flagship Consultation on “Blue Economy, Al-Enabled Mariculture and Research Innovation,” organised by ICAR-NAARM at Hyderabad.

Raman Meenakshi Sundaram, Director, ICAR-NAARM; A. Biju Kumar, Vice Chancellor, KUFOS; and Dinesh Kaippilly, Registrar, KUFOS, attended the ceremony.
